Stay Alert

We are almost in the tenth month of this year, and normally, around this time, we are naturally tired - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We faced a lot of challenges and battles this year, and the devil threw everything he had at us, including the kitchen sink and refrigerator.

As humans, we all get tired, but sometimes we are so eager to rest that we begin not to get up as early to read God’s Word, or we are not as intense with our prayers. But the Holy Spirit wants me to remind you: don’t let your guard down.

Watch and Pray

Stay alert! The Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8 KJV).
The devil cannot devour everyone. He can only devour those who aren’t vigilant. The word vigilant in 1 Peter 5:8 means to stay alert, to exercise caution, and to remain diligent to prevent the sudden onset of destructive calamity due to negligence or inactivity (Strong’s Concordance).

We know we cannot stop all calamity by praying, but some troubles can be avoided. Jesus told the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane to “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation” (Matthew 26:41 NKJV). Jesus wasn’t saying they wouldn’t be tempted, but if they prayed, they would be empowered to overcome temptation.

But Peter fell asleep in the garden, and when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter was operating in the flesh, and he whipped out his sword and chopped a man’s ear off. But Jesus, who was praying, had compassion on the man and healed him. You can respond to your enemies in love when you have been in prayer. Jesus didn’t need a sword. When the soldiers said they were looking for him, Jesus said, “I am he.” And immediately, they all fell back. That is the power of prayer.

P.U.S.H.

You cannot afford to ease up in your walk with God. You’re too close to a breakthrough. When my wife was giving birth to one of our kids, and Pastor Aimee was really worn out. She asked the doctor, “Please. Can I sleep for just ten minutes?” The doctor told my wife, “If you sleep now, you’re going to prolong the process.”

I believe the Holy Spirit is talking to someone right now. Just push one more time. Pray until something happens. I know we’re in the final stretch of this year, but press a little harder. Keep praying. Keep praising. Keep getting up early to read the Bible. You’re about to break through.
The Bible says, “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 KJV).

Finish Strong

Keep pushing. Keep resisting the enemy because “the God of all grace… after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you” (1 Peter 5:10 NKJV).
God is strengthening you right now. You’re going to finish 2024 strong. The weapon may be formed against you, but it will not prosper because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world (Isaiah 54:17, 1 John 4:4).
