The Power of Agreement

We are still giving God praise for all the amazing testimonies and miracles that took place this Sunday at our church, Miracle Healing Center. One woman drove all the way from Oklahoma to attend the weekly morning service. One of her legs was shorter than the other. She came up for prayer, and when she stretched her legs out, we could see that one leg was about an inch shorter. Before we even prayed for her, her leg suddenly grew out. God miraculously made her legs even! I can never forget the look on her face. She was in awe of God’s power. The atmosphere was electric. There is nothing like God demonstrating and confirming his Word with miracles.

The same God who healed in the Bible is still healing today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Some people believe that the day of miracles is over, but there never was a day of miracles. But there is a God of miracles, and he is still proving that Jesus is alive by causing the blind to see, the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk.

In Acts 3, God performed such a mighty miracle through the apostles that over 5,000 men alone became believers. One day, as Peter and John were going to the Temple, they encountered a man who had been lame from birth. Every day, he sat by the Temple gate, the gate called Beautiful, to beg from the people going inside. Seeing Peter and John, he asked them for money. “And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us” (Acts 3:4 NKJV).

The Bible says that Peter and John were going to the Temple at the hour of prayer. They understood the power of agreement in prayer. Jesus had told them, “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).

There was a reason Jesus sent out the seventy disciples in Luke 10 two by two. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9 that two are better than one. God said in Deuteronomy 32 that one of you can chase a thousand and two of you can put ten thousand to flight. Hallelujah! Agreement in prayer is a spiritual principle with exponential results!

“Look on us,” Peter said. The paralyzed man gave them his attention, “expecting to receive something from them” (Acts 3:5). Are you expecting to receive something from God? The Lord is not going to disappoint you. Perhaps you’ve been asking God to deal with the symptoms of a certain issue in your life. But the Holy Spirit is about to go to the root of a problem and put an end to that thing once and for all.

The lame man at the Temple gate asked Peter and John for money, but God was about to give him a miracle that would change his life forever. “Silver and gold I do not have,” Peter said, “But what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6).

There is power in the name of Jesus. The Bible says that at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God (Philippians 2:10-11). Sickness must bow at his name. Demons tremble at his name. There is salvation in his name. Praise God!

So, Peter told the man to rise up in the name of Jesus. “And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength” (Acts 3:7). The man jumped to his feet and began to walk! And he entered the Temple, walking and leaping and praising God!

A crowd soon gathered around the man. Everyone knew him. He had begged at the Temple every day. They were surprised to see him walking and jumping. “Why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?” Peter asked. God has glorified his servant, Jesus, “and His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know” (Acts 3:16).
