God Is Doing a New Thing

God is still opening the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf, healing those with cancer, and setting the oppressed free. This Sunday, God healed a woman who was deaf in her right ear at our church in McKinney, Texas. She had been deaf in that ear for four months, and after we prayed for her, she closed her left ear. I spoke in her right ear, and she repeated everything I said. Glory to God!

The congregation went wild. I will never forget her tears of joy. She also had pain in her right knee after she fell fourteen years ago, but in one moment, God brought her trouble to an end. She can now bend her leg and walk with no pain!

Our God is amazing. He healed in the past, and he is still healing today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His methods may change but he is still the same God, the God who heals and delivers. He is the God of the impossible, and he is about to do a new thing in your life.

KEY TO YOUR MIRACLE

God often works in ways we do not expect. That is because he wants us to trust in him and not merely the way he does things. In Matthew 9, Jesus healed two blind men by touching their eyes. “According to your faith be it unto you,” he said. “And their eyes were opened…” (Matthew 9:30). In Mark 10, Jesus just told Bartimaeus to go his way, and he was immediately healed. In John 9, Jesus healed a man born blind by spitting on the ground and making clay with mud and saliva. He then rubbed the clay in the man’s eyes and told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam.

Why did he put mud in the man’s eyes? It seemed ridiculous. And why did the man have to wash in the Pool of Siloam? We don’t know the answers, but faith doesn’t always make sense. God doesn’t require us to understand. He just wants us to trust him and obey. That is the key to your miracle. Just trust and obey.

Naaman the leper didn’t understand why the prophet, Elisha, told him to wash seven times in the Jordan River. He was hesitant to obey at first. In fact, he was angry. But finally, he listened to the prophet’s instructions, and when he came up the seventh time, his leprosy was completely cleansed.

PUT YOUR FAITH OUT THERE

When Jesus put clay in the man’s eyes, he was doing a new thing. A miracle had never been done like this before. In fact, Jesus performed this miracle on the Sabbath, which upset the religious Pharisees. God may not come through for you the way you expect and when you expect, but he is an on-time God. He has heard your cry and seen your tears, and he is about to act on your behalf. Don’t limit him. Put your faith out there. God cannot ignore faith.

If you have been believing God for a breakthrough in your life, get ready! God is about to do something new in your life, something extraordinary! He is about to blow your mind, and he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all you can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

JUST OBEY

So, the blind man obeyed. He was willing to take the risk because he felt there was something different about Jesus. You know it when the hand of God touches you. This blind man sensed something he never felt when Jesus touched him, and he just knew something good was about to happen. So, he went his way. Someone probably had to lead him to the pool to wash, but he obeyed Jesus’ instructions. That is faith in action. The Bible says faith without works is dead (James 2:26).

And when he washed the mud out of his eyes, he could see! For the first time in his life, he could see the sky, the clouds, the trees. He could see his reflection, his family, his friends. What a miracle!

God always rewards obedience. Not everything he asks us to do makes sense. He may tell us to march around Jericho seven times or feed over five thousand people with just five loaves and two fish but trust him. He is the God of the impossible. Just “do whatever he tells you.” That is what Mary told the servants when Jesus turned the water into wine. Jesus told them to fill six jars with water and then serve some to the master of ceremonies. It made no sense, but they obeyed, and God performed a miracle.
