Your Goliath Is Coming Down

I am excited about this newsletter, because you are about to get the victory over the giant you are facing, because “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4, KJV). Your Goliath is on his last leg. He is coming down!

GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

In 1 Samuel 17, David, a seventeen-year-old shepherd boy, dared to fight the Philistine giant named Goliath. Goliath had been taunting Israel for forty days, but King Saul and his army were afraid of him. Finally, David came on the scene and said, “I will fight him.”

King Saul wouldn’t let him at first. “You’re just a boy,” he told David, “And Goliath has been a man of war since his youth.” But David told Saul how he killed a lion and a bear, so Saul finally agreed. He gave David his armor, but David took it off. “I haven’t proved them,” he said.

So, armed with only a shepherd’s staff, a slingshot, and five stones, he went to meet Goliath. No doubt, both armies thought it was over for David, a teenager standing up against a nine-foot giant! “This match won’t last more than fifteen seconds,” they must have thought.

A whole lot of people may have written you off in their minds. They may be saying there is no way you will win, but God is about to shock them. Don’t try to prove them wrong. Let God fight for you.

VICTORY IN YOUR MOUTH

“And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth… And the Philistine cursed David by his gods” (1 Samuel 17:42-43). Goliath began hurling curses at David. He was activating his witchcraft. The weapon may be formed against you, but it will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). The devil may be trying to get into your mind lately, but you have to talk back to him. Refuse to let the enemy have the last say in your situation. Open your mouth and speak to your giant. “I rebuke you, devil. You are a liar. I believe God. And if God be for me, who can be against me?” (Romans 8:31).

David answered Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a shield, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts… This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand; and I will smite you and take your head from you” (1 Samuel 17:45-46). David began to prophecy because he didn’t have a sword. There was no way he could take Goliath’s head, but David had just been freshly anointed. And the Holy Spirit was speaking through him. “The battle is the Lord's,” David said, “and He will give you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47).

THE TABLES ARE TURNING IN YOUR FAVOR

Goliath ran towards David to attack, but to his surprise, David didn’t run from him. He ran towards him. The Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

David swung his slingshot, and the stone went sailing through the air towards the only part of Goliath’s body that was not protected with armor. Wham! The rock sunk into his forehead. The giant stumbled and fell on his face to the ground.

Your Goliath is down! Lift your hands to heaven in praise. Make it personal. Say, “My Goliath is down!” There is victory in your mouth. David stood on top the giant, and he took Goliath’s own sword and cut off his head. Your giant is under your feet. The enemy thought he was going to take you out, but God turned the tables in your favor. David used Goliath’s own sword to defeat him, and God will do the same for you.

THE BATTLE IS BEFORE US

For Israel, the Philistines’ loss of Goliath marked the end of the battle. Victory! For us, the battle, a spiritual battle, is still going on. We are warring for souls. We are fighting while it is still day so that men, women, and children can experience victory and eternal peace in Jesus. That’s what our upcoming crusade to Pakistan is all about.

Help us with the cost of the crusade. Pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do. We are asking partners like you to consider sowing a seed of $1,000, $750, $500, $250, $100, $50, or $20 to help us cover costs from travel to set up to renting buses so we can bring in thousands of people who would have no way of getting to the service site without our help. We believe that when they hear about the miracle power of Jesus, they will experience salvation, transformation, healing, and deliverance. Will you believe with us?
