You Ain't No Grasshopper
You ain’t no grasshopper! I know it’s not the best English but say it out loud. “I ain’t no grasshopper!” You are an overcomer. You are more than a conqueror. You aren’t just an ordinary Christian. God isn’t looking for ordinary Christians. God is looking for someone who knows who they are in Christ, someone radical enough to take him at his Word.
When God makes you a promise, grab on to that word with all your heart. Start speaking it and declaring it over your life. Get it rooted in your heart and in your mind. The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Guard your heart because you are going to manifest whatever you believe in your heart.
FIGHT FOR IT
In Numbers 13, Moses sent out twelve men to explore the promised land and bring him a report of it. They returned with exciting news that the land was a prosperous land, a land flowing with milk and honey. But ten of the spies began to talk negatively about the land. They said it was a land that devoured its inhabitants. And they discouraged the children of Israel, saying they saw giants there.
But “Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are WELL ABLE to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30 KJV). I like Caleb. Do I have any Calebs reading this newsletter? Are you willing to fight for what God has promised you? Are you willing to act on your faith?
Some of you have God-given business ideas. What are you waiting for? Jump out of the boat. You are not going to see any change unless you are willing to take a step of faith, unless you are willing to see yourself as God sees you.
You are in charge of your destiny. Do not allow anyone to place a limitation on you and tell you what you can and cannot do. The devil is a liar. Has God given you a dream? Go for it! What is your promised land? Is it financial freedom? Is it household salvation? Are you believing God for a miracle healing?
With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Unusual doors are about to open for you. You better receive that. I’m prophesying under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This is your comeback year, your year of supernatural turnaround. Things that seemed stubborn last year, things that troubled you, things that made you feel hopeless are about to take a turn for the better. Glory to God. Are you ready for what God is about to do in your life? Are you ready for where God is about to take you?
HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF MATTERS
So, the ten spies brought a negative report of the land, and they told Moses and the children of Israel, “We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we” (Numbers 13:31). “And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in OUR own SIGHT as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight” (Numbers 13:33).
Can I preach to you? You ain’t no grasshopper. You are born of the Spirit of God, and the Bible says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). You are a child of God, a warrior, a giant-killer. Nothing can stop you. God gave you “power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
The weapon may be formed against you, but it will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). God is on your side, and if God is for you, no one can be against you (Romans 8:31). The only person who can stop you is you. The way you see yourself matters.
The ten spies saw themselves as grasshoppers, and they never made it to the promised land. But Caleb and Joshua were of a different spirit. They said the giants in the land, “are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not” (Numbers 14:9).
The ten spies were depending on their own strength to deliver them. But Joshua and Caleb had their confidence in God. They had seen God deliver them from slavery in Egypt. They had seen him split the Red Sea. And they were not going to doubt him now. God rewarded their faith because Joshua and Caleb were the only two of their generation who crossed over into the promised land.
Do you believe God? The Bible says if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, “you shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20). I know the doubters are talking about you. They will try to make you feel like something is wrong with you. We all have to deal with them, but you have to be bold. Stand your ground. You have the mind of Christ. Everything God asks you to do is not going to make sense. In fact, most of the time, his instructions may seem foolish, but he is your source of victory. All he wants you to do is trust him and see yourself the way he sees you. You ain’t no grasshopper!
