He Is Risen

Holy Week is the most significant time in the history of mankind because Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, purchasing our salvation and defeating death. He was crucified and buried in a borrowed tomb, but he did not remain in the grave. Jesus is alive!

The devil had his time on Good Friday, as the crowds rejected Jesus and mocked him while he hung on the cross. But on Resurrection Morning, Satan was nowhere to be found because Jesus whipped him “real good”. He conquered him because the devil is no match to the power of God.

THE TOMB IS EMPTY

In the book of Matthew, chapter 28, Mary and several other women went to Jesus’s tomb, bringing the spices they prepared for his burial.  “And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it” (verse 2).

Glory to God. Jesus didn’t need help moving the stone, but the angel rolled the stone away, so everyone could see that he had risen from the dead. The tomb is empty.

THE TABLES ARE ABOUT TO TURN

The angel’s appearance was like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. “And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men” (verse 4). It’s the enemy’s time to shake. The God I serve will turn the tables on your enemy. I dare somebody to shout, “It’s not over for me yet!”

This is Resurrection morning. The enemy had his time. They hung him high and stretched him wide. They put the nails in his hands and feet. A soldier took a spear and shoved it into his side to make sure he was dead, but death could not hold him. The grave is no match for the Son of God. The devil is no match for the resurrected King.

THE THIRD DAY

“And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay” (verses 5-6).

The women were overjoyed. Their Lord was not dead; He was alive just as he said he would be. Jesus had told them he would be crucified, but they did not quite understand him at the time. I love how God is honest with us, even when we sometimes do not want to hear what he has to say. Jesus told his disciples that he would be mocked, scourged, and put to death, but “the third day he shall rise again” (Luke 18:33).

The Lord was faithful to his word, and the women, full of excitement, quickly ran to tell Peter, John, and the other disciples what the angel had told them. “And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him” (verse 9).

JESUS IS ALIVE

Later Jesus appeared to the rest of his disciples, and he declared, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:18-19).

After every crucifixion, there is a resurrection. Tell the devil he is defeated. What he meant for evil, God will turn it around for good. Because Jesus died and rose again, you’re saved, sanctified, and full of the Holy Ghost. Your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, and soon and very soon, he is coming back again. Shout! He lives! Somebody give God praise. Jesus is alive!

God bless,
