It's Working Together For Your Good
Don’t take matters into your own hands. You may have been betrayed, lied on, forgotten, and mistreated, but God knows how to work all things together for your good. He has a plan and will fulfill his purpose for your life if you are willing to trust him.
THE WAY UP IS DOWN
Remember how God worked in Joseph’s life? Joseph was betrayed by his brothers. They ripped the colorful coat his father gave him, threw him into a pit, and then sold him as a slave to Ishmaelite traders who took him to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. As Potiphar’s slave, Joseph experienced some success, but Potiphar’s wife lied on him and accused him of rape, so Potiphar threw Joseph into Pharaoh’s dungeon.
Joseph seemed to be in a never-ending season of down – down into the pit, down into Egypt, down into the dungeon. But God had a plan for Joseph’s life, and while Joseph was in prison, he interpreted the dream of Pharaoh’s butler. The butler mentioned Joseph to Pharaoh, and when Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dream, Pharaoh promoted him to Egypt’s prime minister.
During his promotion, Egypt experienced seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine, which happened according to Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream. Throughout the seven years of increase, Joseph instructed Egypt to save for the hard times ahead. When the famine hit, Egypt was able to survive as well as help many other countries because of Joseph’s advice.
Eventually, Joseph’s brothers back in Canaan were affected by the famine, and they went to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph. But they did not recognize him since it was twenty-two years since they had last seen him. Through a series of events, Joseph tested his brothers to see if they had changed from the wicked men who sold him into slavery. And they passed the tests! They were no longer hateful and jealous but compassionate and selfless.
IT WAS GOD
Joseph was so moved, he finally revealed himself. “I am Joseph!” he told his brothers, weeping. “Is my father still alive?” Joseph’s brothers were shocked, terrified. All Joseph had to do was say one word, and he could have them killed. But Joseph beckoned his brothers to come closer to him.
“I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives” (Genesis 45:4-5 NLT).
Joseph’s willingness to forgive his brothers and acknowledge God’s plan even in the midst of betrayal, hardship, and pain proved that he had matured in his faith. Think about it. He could have easily gotten revenge. He could have ordered them to be executed or enslaved. He could have even punished Potiphar’s wife for lying on him. But Joseph let it all go. And not only did he forgive his brothers, but he also provided for them during the famine. And God ultimately used Joseph to preserve Judah, from whose lineage the Messiah would come through.
TRUST THE PROCESS
You have to go through the process to have the mind of God, to see God’s hand at work in your life, ordering your steps. Too often, the enemy tries to blind us with bitterness, anger, and hatred so we do not see the bigger picture. But you are going to have to walk in love and forgiveness and let some people go because if they did not betray or reject you, you would never be where you are today.
It takes a mature person to overlook all the hurt, bad treatment, and realize that all the hell you went through, all the seeming setbacks were a setup for God to fulfill his ultimate purpose for your life. The devil meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. He is in control, he has a plan, and he is working all things together for your good!
YOU DID IT!
We are so happy to announce that we’ve reached our goal of raising $75,000 for our children’s church equipment! Thank YOU and all of our partners who have been so generous with their support of the launch of Miracle Healing Center. The children of McKinney, Texas, who attend Miracle Healing Center will now be able to receive the gospel clearly and in a way that they will enjoy. I know to many, purchasing things like speakers and sound equipment feels a little boring, like a financial seed that isn’t going to accomplish much, but YOU saw in the spirit how these tools could allow us to reach and teach a generation about Jesus.
Pastor Aimee and I are committed to seeing little lives saved and little bodies healed and set free from demonic torment. We are going to do everything we can to raise up children full of the Holy Ghost and power who will carry the flame of revival with them into their schools and onto their playgrounds. We believe entire families will be saved as children receive Christ and are filled with His Word. Will you believe with us? Please add the children of Miracle Healing Center to your prayer list. Let’s stand in agreement for a mighty move of God in our children’s ministry!
