Get Ready For Rain

If God made you a promise, he will fulfill it. He is faithful. You may not see the manifestation yet, but do not give up on his word. Walk by faith and not by sight. Your season of famine and unproductivity is coming to an end. Get ready for rain.

THE GOD WHO ANSWERED BY FIRE

In 1 Kings 18, the prophet, Elijah challenged the pagan prophets of Baal to offer sacrifices on Mount Carmel. The god who answered by fire would be the true God. There were 450 prophets of Baal, and they agreed to Elijah’s challenge. They called on their god from morning until evening, but nothing happened.

When it was Elijah’s turn, he dug a trench around his altar and filled it with water. He also poured twelve large jars of water over his sacrifice, and then he prayed to the Lord. “Let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant,” he said. God heard Elijah’s prayer and answered. Immediately, fire flashed from heaven, consuming the sacrifice and stone altar, and licking up the water in the trench.

When the people saw this miracle, they fell on their faces, crying, “The Lord is God!” They got rid of the false prophets of Baal and began to worship the Lord. A true prophet will always call people to repent and bring them into a right relationship with God.

SOUND OF ABUNDANCE

Now that they had repented, God would bless them. Remember it had not rained in Israel for over three years, but Elijah told King Ahab, “Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain” (1 Kings 18:41 KJV).

The Holy Spirit is talking to someone right now. Your dry season is coming to a close. God has heard your cry and seen your tears. Your famine is almost over. There is a sound of abundance in the realm of the spirit. Lift your hands to heaven. God is about to rain his blessings on your life.

REFUSE TO GIVE UP

“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees” (1 Kings 18:42). Elijah got in a position of prayer. Nothing happens unless you pray. God said, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).

After Elijah was done praying, he told his servant, “Go and look toward the sea.” His servant obeyed and returned saying, “There is nothing.” “Go again,” Elijah told him. The servant went again and came back with the same report. He then went the third time, fourth time, and fifth time, and still nothing.

But Elijah refused to give up. The Bible says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Do not wait until you see it to believe it. Jesus told Thomas, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29).

GIVE THANKS

So, Elijah’s servant went to the sea the sixth time. Finally, on the seventh time, he came back with news. “There is a little black cloud the size of a man’s hand,” he said.

Make sure you don’t forget to give God praise for the little answers to prayer in your life. You may only see a little cloud right now, but lift your hands to heaven and say, “Thank you, Jesus.” Your harvest may begin pressed down and shaken together, but soon it will be running over.

Don’t complain about the five loaves and two fish. Give thanks like Jesus, and God will bless and multiply you. Never underestimate the power of a grateful heart. You may not be where you want to be but thank God you aren’t where you used to be. You have a reason to give him glory, and when you are thankful for the little, he will bless you with more. You may start small, but your latter end will be greater (Job 8:7).

The Bible says, “And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain” (1 Kings 18:45). Abundance is headed to your life. God is  about to open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing you will not have room enough to receive (Malachi 3:10). It is about to rain!
