God Is About to Give You a Divine Override

There are many different ways God can heal people, and one common way we love to talk about is how Jesus healed in response to faith. Blind Bartimaeus, the woman with the issue of blood, and the Roman centurion all got their miracles because of their faith. But that is not the only way Jesus healed. You can’t put God in a box. There are some miracles in the Bible where faith wasn’t even in the picture, but God still worked because of his mercy and sovereignty.

DON'T LIMIT GOD

In John 5, Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holidays and noticed a man at the Pool of Bethesda. Crowds of sick people gathered at the Pool of Bethesda because an angel would stir the water from time to time, and whoever got into the pool first was healed.
The man that Jesus singled out had been sick for thirty-eight years. Some people are ill for such a long time that they cannot even think straight, much less talk about faith. We have prayed for some people who were in comas. You cannot expect people in a coma to have faith, but that is where the mercy of God comes in.

So, Jesus noticed this man who had been sick for thirty-eight years, and when he saw him and “knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, ‘Would you like to get well?’” (John 5:6 TLB). This man had no idea who Jesus was. “’I can’t,’ the sick man said, ‘for I have no one to help me into the pool at the movement of the water. While I am trying to get there, someone else always gets in ahead of me’” (John 5:7).

God in the flesh was standing in front this man, asking him if he wanted to be healed, but he was so focused on getting into the pool, he didn’t even know. Sometimes we are so focused on how we think our miracle should happen that we don’t even notice that Jesus is standing in front of us, offering a way out. Thank God for his mercy.

GOD IS A GOOD GOD

Glory to God! Someone is about to get a divine override. I don’t know about you, but there were times in my life when I had no faith, but God still came through for me. Is there anyone reading this who can relate?

God hasn’t forgotten about you. You may be on the brink of giving up. You may have already given up. You may have no faith at this moment, but I want you to know that you’re going to be all right because God loves you. Your life is in his hands. He is a good God. He is merciful, and sometimes he gives people a miracle where there is no faith involved because he is God all by himself.

MERCY HEALING

God is a compassionate God. He cares about you just like he cared about this man who had been sick for thirty-eight long years. Imagine how discouraged this man must have felt. But even though he was in a large crowd of people, Jesus singled him out, one person, for a miracle. You are that one person today that God is about to touch and restore. You are that one person today who is about to get a mercy healing.

And Jesus told the man, “’Stand up, roll up your sleeping mat and go on home!’ Instantly, the man was healed!’” (John 5:8-9). Wow! “He rolled up the mat and began walking!” (John 5:9).
Later, when the religious Pharisees questioned the man why he was carrying his bed on the Sabbath, he told them the man who had healed him told him to carry his bed. He didn’t even know who Jesus was, yet God still healed him. That is the mercy of God. Later, Jesus found him and told him to sin no more lest a worse thing come upon him.

PRAY WITH ME

I want to pray for you. You may be in a low place in your life right now. You may be questioning your faith in God. You may have given up on God, but it’s not over for you. God, I pray that you give your people a divine override because of your mercy and compassion. God, you are still able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Lord, touch your people in their spirit, soul, and body. Let them know you have singled them out for a miracle, and you will come through for them in Jesus’ name. Amen.
