You're About to Make a Comeback
It is never too late for God. Your situation may seem hopeless, but God is telling you like he told Lazarus; this will not end in death (John 11:4). He has the last word in your situation, and he will restore you and give you another chance. It is not over until God says it’s over.
Jesus was a good friend of Lazarus and his sisters, Martha and Mary. He loved them very much, but when Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, he did not come right away and heal him. “This sickness is not unto death,” Jesus said, “but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby” (verse 4 KJV). The Lord may not show up when you want him, but he is always on time. He has a plan, and he will work all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
Finally, when Jesus decided to visit Lazarus, he discovered that Lazarus had been dead for four days. “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died,” Mary said. “Where have you laid him?” Jesus asked. “Come and see,” they said. When Jesus arrived at the grave, he wept (verse 35). Aren’t you glad we serve a compassionate God? The Bible says he is touched “with the feelings of our infirmities” (Hebrews 4:15). He is moved by your trials and tears, and he will deliver you.
“Take away the stone,” Jesus said. Only God can talk like that. “Lord,” Martha said, “By this time he stinks: for he has been dead four days.” Your situation may be stinking. It may seem like it is over for you, but God is challenging your faith. Take away the stone. Do what you can and watch God do what you cannot.
“Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” Jesus said. Some people want to see before they believe, but God is wanting you to mature in your walk with him, so dare to believe him and take a step of faith. Lift your hands to heaven and say, “I believe God!”
So, they took away the stone, and Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven and prayed. “Father, I thank you that you hear me…” Praise God! Your prayers have been heard. “I know that you hear me always,” Jesus said, “but because of the people standing by, I said it that they may believe that you sent me.” “And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth” (verse 43).
The Lord is speaking to someone right now. “Come out of your grave!” I know your situation is bad. It may be stinking. You may be bound in death clothes. They may have given up on you, but the “Resurrection and the Life” is visiting you today. Rise up in the name of Jesus! You are in a divine visitation. It is not over for you yet.
“And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin” (verse 44). A man who was decomposing, a man who was dead for four days – Jesus brought him back to life. Glory to God! “Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go” (verse 44). God is setting someone free right now. He is restoring someone back to life right now. “Can these dry bones live?” Yes! There is nothing too hard for God. He is breathing life into your situation. You’re about to make a comeback!
