Put Your Trust In God

When you make it a priority to read the Bible and spend time alone with God daily, you will receive clear direction from His Word for your life, and His presence will surround you wherever you go. The Bible says in Psalm 91:1, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” The secret place is the place of prayer, and the shadow of the Almighty is the presence of God. As you go about your day, whether you’re going to work or school or taking care of the kids at home, God’s presence will constantly hover over you, protecting you, guiding you, and giving you peace.

His presence is a stronghold you can run to where the enemy cannot reach you. “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust” (verse 2). Whatever you are facing, you can always turn to God in prayer. He is your refuge and fortress, a shelter from the rain and storms of life. And you can trust him because he is faithful. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence” (verse 3). Without a shadow of a doubt, God will rescue you from every trap the enemy has set for you. The Bible says in Psalm 34:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”  It does not matter what you are facing; God will bring you out. He is bigger than the trouble you are facing, and he will come through for you.

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler” (verse 4). The Bible says the Word of God is truth (John 17:17). So the Word of God is your shield. The Bible also says in Ephesians 6 that we should take the shield of faith “to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (verse 16). And faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). When the enemy is attacking you, stand on the Scriptures. Your faith will increase, and his promises will stop the enemy’s arrows of doubt and enable you to resist temptation. Jesus overcame temptation in the wilderness and defeated Satan with the Word of God, saying, “It is written…”

And because God’s presence and Word are protecting you, you do not have to fear. No destruction, disaster, or disease can touch you because your life is in God’s hands. “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee” (verse 7). You are reading this newsletter right now because God is a keeper. Some of you should not be here because of the intensity of the attacks against you. But by the grace of God, you are still here. “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (verse 11).

Not only are God’s angels encamping around you, but he has also given you power to tread over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet” (verse 13). The enemy cannot defeat you because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). And although the weapon may be formed against you, it will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name” (verse 14). God works all things together for good to those who love him (Romans 8:28). He said in verse 15, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.”  And for those of you who are battling sickness or are worried about your future, he said, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” (verse 16).

Do not be anxious about your life. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). God is in control, and he will deliver you from every challenge you face. He is your protector and keeper. His presence is your fortress, and his Word is your shield. Do not be afraid of the attacks of the enemy. God is faithful, and he has already decided that you will win because you are willing to put your confidence in him. So, continue to spend time in the secret place, the presence of the Lord, and in the Word of God. Continue to put your trust in Him. He will not fail you.

God bless,
