You Will Not Miss God's Plan for Your Life

God chose Joseph to be the earthly father of Jesus, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Jesus’s birth is the only Immaculate conception that ever was and ever will be. And there is so much wisdom we can glean from all the people surrounding the birth of Christ that we can still apply to our lives today.

The Bible says in Matthew 1, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost” (verse 18 KJV).

Joseph was disturbed by this news, and I am sure every man reading this can understand Joseph’s dilemma. His girlfriend was pregnant by the Holy Spirit? Come on. None of us would have bought that idea. Joseph must have been looking at Mary like she came from Mars or something.

But Joseph was a good man, and “being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily” (verse 19). In those days, they would stone a person for fornicating, and Joseph did not want Mary to die because he really loved her. But he was planning in his mind to get rid of her.

Have you ever almost missed the will of God? Come on. Don’t leave me out here by myself. Have you ever missed God’s will? Joseph almost stepped out of God’s perfect will for his life. But he was connected to God’s plan, and when you are connected to God’s plan, God will make sure you do not miss his will.

So, while Joseph was thinking about Mary and what to do, an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel told him, “Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” (verse 20). I dare someone to lift your hands to heaven and say, “This is of the Holy Ghost.”

And when something is of God, he will confirm it. The Bible says, “God speaketh once, yea twice” (Job 33:14). An angel had appeared to Mary and told her that the holy child that was in her was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and now an angel was appearing to Joseph and confirming Mary’s words.

The angel told Joseph, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins” (verse 21). And not only did Joseph’s dream confirm the angel’s news to Mary, but it also confirmed Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 7.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (verse 23). God is with you. Praise God.

The enemy tried to confuse Joseph, and he may be trying to confuse you, but God is speaking to someone right now. Don’t pull the plug. This is God’s will, and he will give you so many confirmations, that you will have an assurance beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is God’s will.

When God sent an angel to Joseph in a dream, Joseph knew beyond any doubt that Mary was telling the truth and that they would raise the Messiah. So, Joseph and Mary were married. “And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus” (verse 25).

Let’s pray. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Pastor Aimee and I join our faith with your people. We pray for those who are about to step out of your will. But we thank you for this word of warning today that you sent because you love your people and care about them. The Holy Spirit is talking to someone right now. Lift your hands to heaven and say, “I surrender, Lord. Not my will but your will be done.

The Bible says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:23). God is telling you to be at peace. Quit trying to figure everything out. God’s plan for your life will come to pass in stages. Be patient. Don’t run ahead of God. Be in step with him.

God knows how to take care of you. Trust him. He is a good God, and he has your best interest at heart. He will work out his plans for your life (Psalm 138:8). When you are connected to his plan, he will do everything in his power to make sure you do not step out of his will. You will not miss God’s plan for your life.

God bless,
Pastors Sean and Aimee Pinder
