The Greatest Comeback

Listen to me carefully: It’s not over for you yet! Your back may be against the wall, and you don’t know which way to turn, but God has the last word in your situation. What looks like the end is just God setting the stage for a miraculous comeback.

Victory Over Death

When Jesus hung on that cross and breathed His last, His followers thought it was over. They had witnessed their Messiah endure one of the most excruciating deaths - crucifixion. He was whipped with a Roman flagrum, a leather scourge with metal balls, that tore into his flesh. The Romans beat him and shoved a crown of thorns on his head. He was nailed to a cross and hung there for six hours before he died.

When he said, "It is finished," and gave up His spirit, they were devastated. Their hopes seemed crushed. They had left everything to follow Him, believing He was the promised Messiah who would restore Israel. Now he was dead, and their hopes seemed to die with Him.

The religious leaders who opposed Jesus thought it was over for him. The devil thought he had won. For three days, Jesus was buried in a grave. But death could not hold Him.
Glory to God! The Bible says that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). That first Resurrection morning, something extraordinary happened that changed the course of human history forever.

The Bible says in Luke 24 that several women who loved Jesus went to His tomb early in the morning, bringing spices to anoint His body. Instead of finding his body, they discovered the stone rolled away and an empty tomb. Angels startled them: "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!" (Luke 24:5).

Jesus did not stay dead. He overcame death, hell, and the grave, and he said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). He won the victory, and the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you right now (Romans 8:11).
Divine Restoration

Some of you are in grave clothes. Maybe doctors gave you no hope. Perhaps your marriage is falling apart. You may be in debt up to your eyeballs. Your family may have given up on you. Your friends may have walked away. But I want to encourage you to hold on to your faith. Don’t give up. God’s plan for your life will come to pass. If you still have breath in your lungs, it is because God is not finished with you yet.

He is telling you to “Come forth!” To get up out of the grave just like he told Lazarus after he had been buried for four days. “Lord, by this time, he stinks,” Martha told Jesus. But Jesus replied, “Didn’t I tell you that if you only believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40). Just believe. Your situation may stink. It may seem impossible, but God specializes in impossible situations. Nothing is too hard for him.

Remember Joseph? His brothers threw him into a pit and then sold him into slavery. They thought Joseph was dead, and when it seemed it couldn’t get worse, Potiphar’s wife lied on Joseph, and Potiphar threw him into Pharaoh’s dungeon. But God gave Joseph a dream that he would rule, and at the right time, God used Pharaoh to bring Joseph out of prison and made him the prime minister over the land of Egypt.

You can’t kill the dream. What dream did God give you? What word did he speak over your life? Keep standing on that word. He will surely bring it to pass. He said, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 NKJV).

Remember Job? The devil took his wealth, his business, his employees, his health, and even his children, but he could not take Job’s faith. In the end, God blessed Job and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Moment of Breakthrough

God still works miracles today! Nothing is too hard for him. We’ve seen blind eyes open, deaf ears hear, broken bones mended, and tumors disappear. We’ve seen cancer healed and people get out of wheelchairs and walk without their crutches. Why? Because Jesus is alive! Our God is not dead! He is risen!

Your situation is not too far gone. These dry bones can live again. Your setback is simply a setup for God to manifest his glory in your life. No matter what you are facing, God has the last word, and he is declaring over your life today, “It’s not over yet!” You will make a comeback!
