Giving Thanks in the Midst of Trouble

Nov 26, 2020    Pastor Sean Pinder

You may be surrounded by trouble on all sides, but in the midst of it all, give God thanks for His faithfulness. You may have experienced great loss during this pandemic, but God is still good. You are still alive, and as long as you have breath, you have another opportunity to praise God for all He has done for you.

Paul experienced a trying time as he was put on a ship to Rome as a prisoner. During the voyage, the ship encountered a great storm. The storm was so terrible, that dark clouds covered the sky for two weeks. The sun or the stars could not be seen that entire time, and all hope was lost. But during that difficult time, an angel appeared to Paul, assuring him that even though the ship would go down, no one would lose their lives.

Paul shared this message to those on board the ship. He encouraged them to eat because they had been so distraught, they had not touched food that entire time. Taking some bread, Paul broke it and gave God thanks. Despite everything Paul had suffered, he still gave God thanks. The others were encouraged and ate as well. Later, the ship struck a shoal and was destroyed, but everyone on board was spared. Be encouraged. Your ship may not survive, but because God is on your side, you are going to make it!
