It’s Finally Over

There are battles that have gone on for so long that you stopped calling them battles.

You just started calling them your life.

The thing you have been dealing with — fighting, praying about, believing for an end to — has been there for so long that most of the people around you have forgotten you are still in it. And somewhere along the way the question stopped being when does this end and started being does this ever end.

Exodus 14 answers that question.

Not gently. Not gradually. Not with a maybe or a someday or a season of additional waiting. With a moment so sudden, so complete, and so irreversible that the people who lived through it could not fully process what they were seeing until they were standing on the other side of it — looking back at something that had been pursuing them for their entire lives — and realizing it was gone.

Not weakened. Not slowed down. Gone.

Here is what most people never discover about the moment when a long battle finally ends — it does not end the way it started. The thing that came for you is not the thing that gets to decide how it finishes. And there is something in this passage about who actually closes the battle — and how — that changes everything about the way you carry what you have been carrying into this message.
