The Cut is Necessary

There is a cut that feels like punishment.

Not because anything went wrong. Not because YOU failed. Not because the one doing the cutting gave up on what was growing. The cut came because of exactly the opposite — because of what was already there, because of what was already being produced, because of what was already visible to the one holding the instrument.

And yet it still hurt.

John 15 contains one of the most counter-intuitive statements in the entire New Testament about what God does to the things in YOUR life that are already working. Not the dead things. Not the dry things. Not the things that stopped producing long ago. What He does to the things that are ALREADY bearing fruit is the detail most people have never stopped long enough to sit with — because sitting with it requires confronting something about the nature of the cutting that most people prefer not to acknowledge.

The cut is not rejection. It is preparation.

But here is what most people miss — the cutting is not the only thing happening in this passage. There is an instrument described. A specific instrument. And what this passage says about what that instrument is capable of — where it reaches, what it divides, what it exposes in YOU that nothing else can touch — will permanently change the way YOU relate to the thing that has been doing the cutting in YOUR life.

Most people want the fruit without the pruning.

This message is for the ones who are willing to understand why the pruning was never optional — and what it was always making room for.
