Don't Cry, Jesus is Here

There is a funeral procession happening in YOUR life right now.

Something YOU carried, something YOU loved, something YOU had every reason to believe in — and it died. And now YOU are walking it out to be buried, surrounded by people who have already accepted that it's over. That's exactly where a grieving mother was in Luke 7. She had already lost her husband. Now she was carrying her only son out of the city gate to the grave, and with him went every hope she had left for her future.

And then the procession met a different crowd coming the other way.

Here is what almost no one notices: Jesus was not invited to that funeral. No one sent for Him. No one asked. He showed up at the gate at the exact moment the coffin was passing through — and what He did before He raised anything is the part that will undo YOU.

He didn't preach. He didn't rebuke her for weeping. He looked at a woman at the lowest moment of her life and said two words that cut straight through the grief: Don't cry.

Why would He tell a grieving mother not to cry? Because He could see what the mourners couldn't. The story wasn't over. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning — and Jesus had just walked her morning right up to the coffin.
