Nothing Is Impossible with God

This week, we are celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, one of the greatest moments in the history of mankind. And hundreds of years before Christ was born, Isaiah prophesied his Immaculate conception, and God was faithful to his word. Every single Messianic prophecy was fulfilled because God’s word does not fail. If God said it, he will make it good. If he spoke it, he will surely bring it to pass (Numbers 23:19).

I want to take you into the book of Luke 1, beginning at verse 26, as we see Isaiah’s prophecy begin to be fulfilled. “… the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary” (verses 26-27). Isaiah had never seen Mary. He had prophesied the Messiah’s birth before Mary was even born. This could only be the Holy Spirit.

“And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women” (verse 28). Why did God favor Mary? What was so special about her that God chose her? I will tell you why God favored Mary. She was connected to his divine plan. God’s favor on her life had everything to do with the coming of the Lord Jesus.

When you study the Bible, you will realize that the people God chose and favored were all connected to the coming of Christ. Abraham, Rahab, David, Solomon, Jehoshaphat – all of these people were ancestors of the Messiah. And you have to remind yourself in your daily Christian walk that your successes or trials have nothing to do with you. Everything God does in your life revolves around his divine plan. Jesus is the center of it all. He is the reason for the season. And when you are connected to Christ and his Gospel, the favor of God will overtake your life, so his ultimate purpose can be accomplished.

So, the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would be the mother of the Christ. “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end” (verses 31-33).

Mary was overwhelmed by Gabriel’s prophecy. She asked the angel, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” Mary was a virgin, so she wondered how God’s plan would transpire. And many of you may be saying to yourself, “I don’t know anybody. I don’t have any connections. How is this thing going to happen?” The Bible says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6).

The angel Gabriel told Mary, “The HOLY GHOST shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (verse 35). Glory to God. YOUR ANSWER IS IN THE HOLY GHOST. You cannot make God’s plan happen in your own strength. The Holy Ghost will bring God’s word to pass in his perfect timing. “For with God NOTHING shall be impossible” (verse 37).

“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her” (verse 38). Shortly after Mary’s visitation with the angel, Mary was supernaturally impregnated by the Holy Ghost. God is doing something supernatural in your life. You are about to give birth to his divine plan for your life. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). No matter what you are facing, look to God. Trust his word. He cannot lie. Stand on the Word of God because it never fails. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Nothing is impossible with God.

God Bless,
